Fall 2004 teeming with activity Online, at Film Festivals, and on Television for SONNYBOO.COM's Peter John Ross
Columbus, OH September 28, 2004 -- Award winning filmmaker Peter John Ross’ short films are set to play at multiple film festivals, multiple TV shows internationally, and on several new websites. Audience favorite short “Always Late” will play as a part of the Best of Cincinnati from the 48 Hour Film Project screening on September 26th. More than ten Sonnyboo short films have begun airing on Movieola, the short film channel, and are also set to begin airing this fall on the new network PLUM TV. Several of these short films have also been scooped up by DIVX, for the new video site DIVX.COM’s “DIVX Indies”.
“At this stage, I’m getting asked to submit my movies. People are finding the flicks online. The power of the Internet working for me”, says Peter John Ross, writer/director. “I’m soliciting Webster’s to include a picture of me for the next edition to appear next to the entry for ‘tenacity’. If I get in, I’ll issue another press release.”
DIVX.COM and the DIVX group have contracted Sonnyboo Short films to show off the power of their software. DIVX looks for cutting edge content that they can use to demonstrate high quality videos encoded for the Internet. The first set of Sonnyboo short films are scheduled to premiere in late October 2004 in the DIVX INDIES section of their site as free downloadable and streaming content.
Peter John Ross’ directoral effort for the 48 Hour Film Project Cincinnati already won an audience award, and is in contention for the coveted “Best of Cincinnati 2004”. The 48 Hour Film Project is an international filmmaking competition where teams have just two days to make a short film from scratch, given a prop, a line of dialog, a character, and a genre at 7:PM on Friday, and must turn in a finished, edited movie on Sunday at 7:PM. In an ironic twist, “Always Late” was the first film turned in this year. You can see the short film now at www.sonnyboo.com

“I’m considering joining some kind of workaholics group”, says Ross, a Columbus resident. “No matter how much I accomplish, my mother still asks me when I’m getting a real job again. I could never go back to the brokerage firm, but that’s because they fired me 4 years ago.”
